Dmitriy Ostrovskiy is a 2L Legal Innovation + Technology Certificate student and a Law Lab Fellow. He was born in Mariupol, Ukraine and came to Chicago in 2000. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 8 years as a Combat Engineer and Cryptologic Linguist before returning to Chicago to finish his B.B.A. in Accounting at Loyola University Chicago with a Minor in Information Systems and a graduate certificate in Business Data Analytics. Dmitriy briefly worked as an accountant before starting law school.
Dmitriy is passionate about immigration advocacy and criminal defense and he hopes to harness the potential of data science and technological innovation to improve access to justice in these two areas of the law.
Dmitriy is pursuing the Public Interest Law Certificate and the Legal Innovation + Technology Certificate along with the Juris Doctor degree. This summer, he interned at Community Activism Law Alliance doing immigration work. He is now taking the Justice & Technology Practicum and working as a Co-Manager of the Self-Help Web Center, a law student-run courthouse service desk that helps guide pro se litigants through the legal process.
