McKay is a 2L in the Legal Innovation + Technology Certificate program. He is a passionate problem solver and an advocate for improving the way we deliver legal services. As a 1L, he helped build a machine learning tool that spots legal issues while interning at the legal tech company, SavvySuit, and was selected as a Latham & Watkins Technology Innovation Summit Scholar. He attended the IFLP Boot Camp at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and interned with Seyfarth Shaw's SeyfarthLean Consulting group where he helped increase client satisfaction by examining the people, processes, and technology used on specific matters.

McKay is excited to incorporate technology, data analytics, project management, and other skills into his legal education and looks forward to leveraging them as a 2020 Reed Smith Summer Associate.

Prior to law school, McKay earned his B.S. in Sociology at Brigham Young University and gained experience helping non-profits in Europe and South America leverage data and design thinking to improve processes and increase sustainability. Additionally, he served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate to children and teenagers in Utah County's juvenile welfare system.
