Natanya Pope
Legal Innovation + Technology Certificate
Class of 2020
Natanya Pope is a third year evening student at Chicago-Kent. She earned her undergraduate degree in International Relations, concentrating in North African and Middle Eastern Studies, from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Natanya worked as a substitute teacher on the west side of Chicago for 13 years before deciding to go to law school to pursue a career in public interest law, focusing specifically on access to justice through technology.
Natanya has extensive public service experience, having served two years as an AmeriCorps volunteer at Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) and Legal Assistance Foundation (LAF). As a law student she interned at both organizations, working on projects that involved online legal content management, producing automated document interviews and criminal records expungement and sealing. Her experience led her to pursue the Legal Innovation and Technology Certificate. As a recent recipient of a Seyfarth Shaw Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certificate, Natanya believes innovation in the administration and practice of law is a key component to closing the justice gap. Besides ILAO and LAF, Natanya has interned at the Chicago Community Bond Fund and is currently a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) intern at Cabrini Green Legal Aid.
