Legal Innovation + Technology Certificate
Class of 2020
Trace Bareck was born in Chicago, Illinois, and received a B.S. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He fostered a passion for technological innovation after completing a computer science course at the university and has followed new developments in the realm ever since.
During his second year, Trace further developed and refined his polytechnic legal skills through his completion of various LI+T courses including Legal Analytics I, where he learned to clean and manipulate datasets in RStudio; Practice and Professionalism; Blockchain and the Law; Programming for Lawyers, where he refamiliarized himself with the coding language, Python; and Legal Project Management and Process Improvement, where he earned a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification through SeyfarthLean Consulting.
At the end of his 2L spring semester, Trace was selected to participate in the Institute for the Future of Law Practice’s (IFLP) three-week boot camp and internship program. Under the helm of Bill Mooz at IFLP’s CU-Boulder boot camp, he and his cohorts completed five training modules in Business Fundamentals and Professional Communication; Frameworks for Innovation; Technology, Data, and Computational Thinking; Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence; and Industry Orientations. Each module concluded with a “Shark Tank” presentation, where Trace and his group presented their solutions to real-world legal and business problems to a panel of industry professionals after engaging in collaborative problem-solving methods. Trace is thrilled to be joining HBR Consulting following the boot camp and is eager to continue learning and to apply what he has learned in the past two years.
